Big Wins and Important Moves in Monday’s Mediation Session
We made significant progress during our second (12+ hour!) mediation session with UO on October 9. After months of holding on to our Caregiving Support and International GE Support articles, the administration’s team brought them back to the table—and though their offers were underwhelming (they struck most of our proposals), it meant that we could finally have more holistic and informed discussions about our financial priorities.
We missed you during mediation!
Here’s what happened on our first day.
Members, here’s how to participate in mediation!
During mediation on Monday, October 9, we’ll be holding a GE Work-In from 12-5pm at the EMU Food Court (in front of the Crater Lake Room). Wear your GTFF shirt, bring your laptop/work, and set up to make our labor visible to the University of Oregon!
Our contract needs to protect queer and trans GEs. Here’s why.
“A GE shouldn’t have to beg and scrape for the dignity of their supervisor using the correct pronouns. This is basic human dignity.”
UO’s latest salary offer still won’t cut it
As we head into mediation, here’s where we stand.
We told UO’s Board of Trustees: GEs deserve dignity
“As class sizes rapidly grow, and while GEs remain overworked and underpaid, what kind of education can these undergraduate students expect to receive?”
UO is sending a message: They don’t care about ALL grad workers.
Their comments at the table indicated that they’re not interested in holding supervisors accountable for misgendering GEs, or in recognizing ADA accommodations as an urgent matter.
CAS ‘continuity planning’ shows UO is getting nervous
UAUO and GTFF respond to the university’s union-busting efforts.
We’re filing for mediation in bargaining. Here’s why.
Our proposals are based on real data about what our members need. We think a mediator will recognize those facts, even if UO refuses to do so.
