TL;DR: If you only read one GTFF email this summer, read the email titled “STRIKE VOTE”. If you only read two emails this summer, finish reading this one.
Bargaining Committee Can Call for a Strike Vote At the GMM during week 10, we held a vote to reaffirm the bargaining team’s power to call for a strike vote if one is necessary. We hope not to have to do this over the summer!
Strike Vote Procedure A successful strike vote empowers the executive board to declare a strike if they deem it necessary. If we end up needing to hold the vote over the summer when many GEs are out of town, we will likely hold the vote, at least in part, over email. If that happens, we will send an email out with “STRIKE VOTE” in the subject line. Please read that email in its entirety.
Bargaining Update Yesterday, you should have received an email with an update from the last two mediation sessions as well as a farewell from Mike Magee, our outgoing president. Check that email for full details, but in short, things will likely slow down a little over summer as both our team and the university’s team will be out of town at various points.
Summer Actions Throughout the summer, we will have many bargaining-related actions as well as social events.
If you are interested in helping plan events or actions or want to be involved in the conversation around our contract campaign, please email Trevor at organizing@gtff.net.
