Every few weeks, we'll email a short list of events and news pertaining to your union. We don't plan on overtaking your inbox, we promise.

Its GTFF versus CGE! Our fellow Graduate Employees up at Oregon State University are hosting a Brew-off! Can the master brewers at CGE be dethroned with a brew of GTFF's making?
Have you seen the latest proposal in the house of representatives for the tax bill?
This bill threatens to pull you even deeper in debt, by taxing you on your GE paycheck AND the tuition remission that is currently tax free. Essentially, you will be taxed at twice the rate, but still be paid the same if this bill goes through.

GTFF response to the October 6th State of the University Protest
On October 6, a group of students and community members participated in a demonstration at President Schill’s State of the University Address. This past Monday, October 30th, some activists involved in the protest, as well as those who were not, were unfairly targeted with student conduct violations. Some of these students who were charged are fellow rank-in-file members from our own union. We invite you to read more about ourcall for solidarity actionssurrounding these student conduct hearings that are being conducted without due process. You can also access the letter that a coalition of presidents on campus penned in opposition to these actions here.
We are searching for a new VP of Equity and Inclusion!
Our current VP of Equity is stepping down, so we are searching for another union member to fill the vacant position!
Description of position: The VP of Equity & Inclusion must critically engage with the power structure of the union, taking charge to improve union culture and union structures in regard to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. One of the primary functions of the VP of Equity is to assist caucuses and encourage and recruit underrepresented members to run for leadership positions in our union. The VP of Equity should also engage with AFT-Oregon Social Justice Council, which is a monthly meeting with other AFT-Oregon locals. Other ways to promote equity for our workers is to connect with the university to advance the interests of diverse union members.
If you think you might be the right fit or would like more information, contact president Jessica Neafie.
