Environmental Studies Grievance Resolution!!

After many weeks of organizing and fighting, the collected GEs of the Department of Environmental Studies won their grievance to receive additional office space!

GEs and graduate students in the department complained for years about inadequate office spaces in Columbia Hall preventing them from working effectively on research, and with no access to private meeting spaces with undergraduates. While the department was sympathetic, they simply didn’t have the leverage to make the University budge on the issue.

These GEs decided to take matters into their own hands and filed a grievance with the department demanding office and meeting spaces that meet the terms of the GTFF Contract. It took a few months and continuous organizing, but the University finally relented and has promised new offices in a UO Annex for all ENVS GEs!!

Congratulations to the collected GEs in ENVS for standing up for themselves as workers and demanding safe and fair working conditions!

It's been a pleasure being your VP of Member Communications this year. Look forward to hearing from your new Vice President for Member Communications.

Please ask your department steward to sign a commitment card this week!
