Statement of Condemnation of White Supremacist Violence

  • by

The GTFF vehemently condemns the acts of insurrection and violent white supremacy displayed last Wednesday in the U.S. Capitol and more locally this weekend across the state of Oregon. Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and Jewish people disproportionately experience white supremacist violence — at the hands of individuals and through the discipline of the state — and our deepest concerns lie in their safety and well-being during this current political unrest.

Resistance against the organized white supremacist violence we saw this week means using our collective power as workers and educators. We invite all members to attend the Direct Action Team meeting today at 6:30pm PST, during which there will be time for rank-and-file members to suggest different ways to center any direct action or organizing efforts around this goal.
