The first unionized hospital doctors in the country are in federal mediation for their second contract and face the threat of subcontracting again.
PeaceHealth continues to squeeze front line health care workers to serve their own bottom line by pushing for provisions that would allow them to contract out the work of these professionals for any reason and at any time.
In the face of the current anti-union politics, these doctors are pioneers of a new frontier in labor and health care politics. The success or failure of their fight today will have an impact on all other unions at Sacred Heart as well as for other hospitalists seeking to form a union.
