On Sunday, May 1 the Lane County Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and the Eugene-Springfield Solidarity Network (ESSN) will host a celebration of International Workers’ Day from 5:00- 8:00 at the Teamsters Union Hall in Springfield, Oregon. International Workers’ Day is an annual celebration of of workingclass struggles around the world, which began as a memorial to eight Chicago anarchists and labor activists who were unjustly persecuted for participating in the movement for the eight-hour day in the late 19th century.
The event will feature short speeches about the history of International Workers’ Day, information about the current work of ESSN and IWW, and a musical concert. Musical entertainment will be provided by acclaimed folk-singer/
